A return to heaven
On June 6, the surroundings of Olaya Herrera Airport were the runway where the passions of 120 runners took flight in Dynamic Run.
Let's say that one of the small planes that took off or landed at first light on Sunday noticed something strange circling the Medellín air terminal. A bunch of yellow dots surrounded the 6.2 kilometers that surround the runway between Belén and Barrio Antioquia.
It will be necessary to explain to the fictitious spectator that there were about 200 runners who turned that little piece of the map into an athletics track where they met for a 6, 12 and 21 kilometre race. Those in the half marathon ran 3 laps of this urban circuit where they let off steam their desire to return to in-person events, look pretty for the photo, receive water like the professionals and put on the medal at the end of the task.
I will add that this event was peacefully taken to the roads as an act of rebellion against this cursed disease that has taken so much from us and that violently took our lives. That is why each one, respecting physical distancing, fought on two legs to get away from their rivals on duty and thus get one step higher on the final list, to reconnect with that adrenaline of overtaking familiar and strange backs, to wear a number on the back and to have another metal witness to a new anecdote that was kept in memory.
Dynamic Run were yellow dots around an airstrip, drawing a metaphor for the dream of flying to Sundays like that where, with masks on, we took a break from the distance and hugged each other again around the love for this passion that fills our veins with joy.
And in sports
In terms of sports, the half marathon caught the attention of passers-by, family members and amateur athletes. Camilo Betancur (Terret Running Team) took first place, stopping the clock at 1:22´, Mateo Chaverra (Tritanium) came in second and Juan José Gómez (Dynamic Run) took third place on the podium. Cristian Marín (Dynamic Tri) came in sixth. The latter appeared in the article because he was the one who wrote it and wanted to be on the list. They will forgive me.
